Fit
Organizations that are more likely to be considered for a grant:
Have leadership at the highest levels that reflect the communities they seek to serve.
Affirm the gifts in individuals and communities they are serving and engages them in their own development.
Demonstrate innovation, humility, and justice in their work. Resonate with our values.
Possess ambition to grow their impact.
Work in one of our programmatic focus areas.
Though not required, we appreciate partners who leverage existing structures and connecting forces in a community, such as churches, in order to reach the most people for the greatest good.
Stage of Growth
Organizations that are more likely to be considered for a grant:
Demonstrate at least three years of operations and successful fundraising to support operations.
Are legally registered as a non-profit organization in the country of operations.
If not a 501c3 registered in the U.S., has a fiduciary relationship with a 501c3 organization that can receive funds.
Have paid staff and a board of directors or advisory committee.
Grant Guidelines
First-time grants typically range from $10,000-$25,000.
First time grant commitments last 12 months.
Funding restrictions: Our support is generally capped at 10% of an organization’s budget. We want to be invested in our partners’ success while ensuring our partners have diverse philanthropic support.
Where We Work
We fund organizations working in South Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Please Note
We are not currently accepting LOIs or applications from new organizations due to limited capacity to add new partners to Micah 6:8's granting portfolio. New organizations may complete a brief online questionnaire providing information for future use should our capacity increase.
We do not support solely advocacy-based organizations.
We do not fund individuals or endowments.
We do not provide funding to create new organizations.
